Something I hear a lot from event organisers is that the multilingual elements of events can be expensive. From finding the right interpreters to hiring equipment….it all adds up.
I’ve recently interpreted at events using a “tour guide” system for interpreting, and it’s been a lot of fun.
Wondering how it works?
Well, it does what it says on the tin, really: the interpreter accompanies delegates and interprets for them as they have their meetings, do tours of facilities, etc.
Each delegate has their own headset for their own language, so they have access to the same high quality interpretation as usual.
I find it works brilliantly for smaller events, though for large scale events in big venues (with big background noise!) and hundreds of attendees, it’s not an option.
But then again, those sorts of events tend to have bigger budgets!
Do you think tour guide interpreting would work for your events?
